Can Guinea Pigs Eat Almonds?

The Short Answer:

almondsYou can give a guinea pig an almond, but it is highly not recommended.  You should not give them almonds, or any type of nut, because they have a high chance of causing your guinea pig harm.  Almonds are very high in fat, and guinea pigs can have severe and deadly allergic reactions to nuts.

More Info:

Guinea PigsIf your guinea pig has already eaten an almond, you should not worry too much, as it will likely be ok, but you should avoid giving it any more.  Instead give it a balanced diet of fresh vegetables.  If it looks like your guinea pig might be having an allergic reaction to the almond, you should call a vet asap for instructions on what you can do.  Some will have mild reactions where you will just have to wait it out, but some may need you to take immediate action to save.
