Do Guinea Pigs Sleep?

do guinea pigs sleepThis might a pretty silly question to ask, but yes, guinea pigs do indeed sleep.

They burn energy just like the rest of us, and as a result they need to sleep in order to restore it and go through with their daily routines the next day. Sometimes they happen to sleep with their eyes open, and that means that we can’t tell if they’re sleeping or not sometimes. Rest assured that you’re guinea pig is getting their nights worth of rest, even if it happens to look like they’re not sleeping at all (they really are).

Sleeping with their eyes open? How is that possible? wouldn’t every little movement wake them up?
