Dogs are pack animals by nature, this means that no dog enjoys being left alone for long periods of time.  That being said, there are some breeds of dogs that can be left alone in your home for longer periods without getting as lonely as others.

 

 

Sussex Spaniel PuppiesSussex Spaniel

This type of dog does not mind being left alone once it is used to it.  They are generally friendly dogs, and adapt quickly to their environment.  Although these dogs have a tendency to be difficult to train, once trained they are great.

 

Shiba InuShiba Inu

These dogs are very friendly, but are also full of energy.  If you have one of these dogs you will have to put a large effort into training.  Although these do not mind being left alone, you will have to be sure to run them off well, and to give them toys to play with when you are gone, or risk coming back to a complete mess.

 

Pharaoh HoundPharaoh Hound

These are very intelligent dogs, and can be left alone for long periods of time without worry as long as they have been exercised, and trained.  They are all around good dogs that are very loyal.

 

Norfolk Terrier PuppyNorfolk Terrier

These small dogs are great for people who are on the go. They do not require large amounts of exercise, so some play before you leave is satisfactory for them.  They are great friendly dogs, but they require a large amount of training.

These are friendly dogs that are full of energy.  These dogs are hard to train, and full of life, which makes training a long process.  Once trained these dogs can be left alone and be ok, however a poorly trained schnauzer will wine and bark non stop when you leave.

 

 

Boston Terrier PuppyBoston Terrier

These dogs are nice and lazy, making them easy dogs to be left alone.  They have high energy levels, but tend to have short bursts of energy.  A fun toy or a quick game of fetch is enough to tire out many boston terriers.  Once the dog is tired, it will not mind being left alone for a couple hours until it has another short burst of energy.
