Every Dog Needs This Toy!

bumiNormally I write articles about pet info, or post cool and fun pet videos, but today I am going to talk about a dog toy.

I have a lab/beagle mutt named Oreo, who loves playing, and is super energetic. When I got her, I spent hundreds on dog toys to try and keep her occupied, so she would not chew up any furniture or shoes.

Although it worked, I found myself constantly tossing away toys that cost me between $2 and $20 to buy. Every day I would give her a new toy, and an hour later I would be picking up pieces of the toy. Material toys would last maybe 15 minutes in her mouth, and other toys would last at maximum an hour.

Then I stumbled upon a “Review Of West Paw Toys” where the person reviewing said that the toys were virtually indestructible. Although I had little faith in the review, I was already spending a lot on toys, so I figured I would try one of them.

I started out with buying the West Paw Design Guaranteed Tough Bumi Dog Toy. It took around 3 days to come in the mail, and when it did, at first I really was not too impressed. The toy was expensive, and I didn’t think much of the material it was made of. I gave it to my dog, expecting it to last 5 minutes. An hour later the toy was still in perfect condition, and my dog had not stopped chewing on it.

I was really surprised, and I thought, all right, I finally found a toy that will last maybe a day or two. Three weeks later, and hours upon hours of chewing, they toy was still in PERFECT CONDITION. Needless to say I was impressed. Since my dog seemed to like the toy a lot, I decided to get some other toys by west paw.

I made another order off Amazon, this time buying the “West Paw Design Hurley Dog Toy“, the “West Paw Design Guaranteed Tough Zisc Dog Toy“, and the “West Paw Design Tizzi Dog Toy“.

When they came, they were all made of the same material, but the Zisc (a frisby) was very thin.

[OLD] See Update Right now, I still have all the toys, and they are all still in perfect condition. I have had them for a little over 7 months now. You heard me right, somehow they lasted 7 months, and are still in great condition while other toys last an hour at max.  West Paw also has a guarantee on their toys that you can get a free replacement toy if yours breaks for any reason.  Although I would feel bad sending mine in if it ends up breaking, because of how much chewing and abuse it has already gone through.

[UPDATE] I have owned these toys for over 2 years now! And my dog still plays with them and chews on them aggressively. The toys have gotten damaged, and are not in perfect condition any longer, but after 2 years of rough play I am surprised by how durable they have been. Since I bough these toys, I have yet to buy any other dog toys! Thats right 2 years, and she is still happily playing with the SAME TOY! These have literally saved my hundreds!

What I have found is which toys my dog likes most out of them.

ziscI almost never use the Zisc. It seems too flimsy, and it does not throw that well. My dog also has a tough time picking it up off the ground.

bumiThe Bumi toy is the favourite of my dog. She will sit for hours just gnawing away at it.

tizziMy dog also like the Tizzi toy, but she will only play with it when I put a treat inside. (A nice feature about this toy).

hurleyAs for the Hurley, my dog will only play with it if I am playing with it with her. The Hurley seems to be a little boring for her taste.

The best deal on these toys is off of amazon, on the west paw design store page, and they cost between $9 and $20 each.

I have to say they were THE BEST investment in dog toys I have ever made.

This toy literally saved me hundreds of dollars, and saved my furniture from being destroyed.

I have owned one of these for over two years. I got the tizzi toy as a gift when i first brought home my puppy. (A small shih tzu) The oy is still perfect, other than a few scratches. I may actually go and buy a Bumi, if you say your dog prefers it. I know they are built great.

I bought one of these for around $30 at a pet store by me. It is very high quality, I just have the hurley one, my dog does occasionally use it, but not very often.

I have the Zisc, and the Bumi. My dog really enjoys playing with the Zisc, and I have not noticed my dog having issues picking it up. It really does fly far.

West Paw is a really good company when it comes to dog toys. I have never tired their material ones, but their rubber, or silicon, or whatever they are made of are great. I have two dogs, they use a bumi as a tug-of-war toy, and it is still in one piece. Usually if I get a rope toy, it is gone within minutes.

Really well built toys for sure.

These toys are really good. I have had one for just over one year, and it has not been wrecked at all. My dog chews on it like nuts, can carries it around with him everywhere.
