Contrary to popular belief, Guinea Pigs don’t come from Guinea, but originate from South America.
We do know that guinea pigs make amazing pets, but where do their roots actually lie? Knowing a little bit more about your favourite animal is something we can all get a kick out of, and when it comes to guinea pigs they happen to originate from South America (and they’ve been known to be pets ever since 2000BC!). Guinea pigs have been around for quite some time, and it’s pretty obvious that there’s a reason why they make such great pets! Guinea pigs have roots just like you and I, so keep that in mind!
